OVERVIEW
A solution for registering members for a sub service through the park district. A registration portal for a specific service integrated with the already existing system for a better back-end experience. Schaumburg Park District provides a dog park for customers with a registration process for it that is different than for the classes and programs. While it doesn't affect the customers, the usability for the staff is ineffective.

OBJECTIVE
The SPD already has a desktop registration system. However, the customers registering for the dog park have a separate registration process and requirements. Which as of now are hard paper copies.
Current Registration Process:
-
Step 1: A account for the dog is created
-
Step 2: Dates from the vet invoices are entered into the system
-
Step 3: Payment is processed
-
Step 4: The paperwork is filed for next vet update or renewal
Not very effective as you have to jump across multiple screens to finish one membership.
The other problem is we have to refer back to the paperwork every time there is a discrepancy. This flow of switching from digital to paper is not accurate or long-term.
APPROACH
My solution is to create singular screen process integrating it with the SPD registration system. This system already has a process to create accounts and finalize payments.
So my approach was to make a sub category for just the Dog Park memberships.
Accounts and payments will still be done through the main web-flow, but to eliminate the paperwork a portal similar to patient portals at doctor offices will be used to keep track of medical details of the pet.
Following is the existing UI design for SPD registration system, Activenet.
This will also play a part in the acceptance criteria as some of these conditions will need to be used by the user and system.
1. Participant will have to be found or added through the original dashboard but linked to the new webflow.
2. New webflow will open once either the top tab is clicked or New Membership in the original screen is clicked.
3. Payment Options screen needs to open once the Pay and Finish button is clicked.
4. User can go back to original webflow anything

MAKING
Using Human-Centered Design Thinking, I started as a subject matter expert who was immersed myself in the service system. Thanks to that, I wanted to understand the problem and create a solution. I created a recipe for myself and started understanding and making. As there is a system present, the prototypes align with the existing UI/visual design.

Activenet
In orange are the new flows added through my solution
Solution:
-
Add a subcategory at the top for K-9 Dog Park
-
Can be accessed from the main dashboard or through:
CUSTOMER SEARCH > DETAIL > NEW MEMBERSHIP > PACKAGE SEARCH > K-9 DOG PARK CUSTOMER SEARCH
This way staff can create accounts through the original way but have a direct link to the K-9 Dog Park Membership service.
- New features

Following is the webflow in K-9 Dog Park from the main dashboard.
Kelly's Use Case:
Kelly wants to update the vaccinations dates of a pet whose owner brought his new records.
Her Steps:
1. She wants to search for the customer through the K-9 Dog Park.
2. She needs to click on the name of the pet.
3. She needs to edit the vaccination dates.
4. She needs to upload the new vaccination and replace the old file.

I did a quick Rose, Thorn, Bud exercise to see and find overlapping themes or clusters. As shown, there are more thorns than roses. The only positive being that there is an existing design and flow to use and study from.

Can use the same system
The payment process is same as the rest of the services

Dates and paperwork needs to match
To recheck, staff need to go through the paperwork
